Christianity spread its roots along the Persian shores and so by the 5th century Bahrain also came under its influence and Muharraq became a staunch follower of Christianity. Till today, we can find names of towns that relate to the Christian faith. Close to Muharraq are the Amwaj Islands, which are a cluster of man-made islands situated to the northeast of Bahrain, near the Muharraq coast. You will find one of the tallest buildings here and its modern infrastructure makes it a beautiful place to live in. The Amwaj Islands are connected to the mainland via a causeway.

The Bahrain International Airport is also situated in Muharraq, making it an easy place for tourists to arrive here. Muharraq is also popular for its traditional markets or souks. It is also home to Bahrain’s most popular football club, the Muharraq Club. Muharraq is one of the cities that are visited by tourists coming to Bahrain. It is hardly unavoidable, as the international airport is based here, but this does not mean the city is not worth visiting. It certainly has its attractions and is a good place to spend your vacations.
