Bordering two countries, with the Ontario province in Canada on one side and the US state, New York on the other side, this attractive waterfall has for years been a central attraction for tourist visiting Ontario in Canada. The Goat Island divides the Niagara Falls into two with a larger part, the Horseshoe Falls, lying on the Canadian side, while the smaller American Falls is on the American border. The width of the Niagara Falls is magnum as compared to its height. Apart from the breathtaking views that the Niagara Falls presents, it is also a precious source of hydroelectric power.
The Niagara Falls along with the Great Lakes and the Niagara River were created due to the Wisconsin glaciation that took place some 10,000 years ago. Summer is the time when one will find tourists in great numbers here. The falls on the Canadian side is illuminated by night until midnight making it a tourist paradise both by night as well as during the day. The most fascinating is the Maid of the Mist tour of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls that gives the most spectacular views of the Niagara Falls on both sides of the border, the American Falls as well as the Horseshoe Falls.
Queen Victoria Park is a well maintained and cultured garden that offers panoramic views of both Horseshoe Falls as well as the American Falls. The Skylon Tower gives a breathtaking overhead view of the falls while underground walkways take you into observation rooms that give you the impression of walking through the falls. The Whirlpool Aero Car, is a cable car that takes tourists over the Canadian side of the whirlpool while the Journey Behind the Falls is undertaken by elevators that lead you onto an observation platform that is located right at the bottom of the falls.
The Niagara Falls is considered a honeymooners paradise, as many newly wedded couples come here for their honeymoon. It is an important centre for commerce and tourism. As it is a much sought after tourist destination, there are a number of resorts available here with casinos and other entertainment facilities. The best time to visit is in summer when the weather is dry and warm. The Niagara Falls International Airport has passengers arriving from all across the globe to view the enchanting Niagara Falls.
