The Loire Valley also known as the “Garden of France” is an exceptionally beautiful region of central France, well known for its exotic collection of chateaux that abound in the valley. These prestigious castles are the main attraction here, besides the fabulous countryside and the picturesque landscape with unspoiled beauty are an equally inviting force. The world renowned historic towns of the Loire Valley with their architectural splendor display the influences of the Renaissance on European thinking.
The area from Maine to Sully-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley is a UNESCO declared World Heritage Site. Apart from a historically important region, the Loire Valley is also culturally rich with interesting towns and villages that altogether give the region an immense beauty that would behold anyone spellbound. The castles date back right up to the 10th century with more than 300 castles highlighting the area and providing visitors with a magical experience. The 16th century Chateau de Chambord is one of the most attractive.
However, not all the chateaux are open to the public, as some are private property while others have been converted to lodges and some others taken over by the government and opened for public viewing as important historical sites. The Loire region has the most number of historical attractions in the whole of France and the scenic beauty surrounding is something that would attract anyone anytime. It is also a region of some great vineyards and beautiful gardens with the loveliest display of flowers.
There is no end to what you can see at this mesmerizing land of gorgeous castles, green hillocks and the endless beauty surrounding the area. Also there are numerous museums and galleries, churches and cathedrals that tourists can visit. Market squares and shopping centers along with lovely restaurants and pubs are available in abundance. Activities include apart from attractive sightseeing, hiking, boat trips and picnics along the charming lakes. Loire Valley is a delightful place to visit and certainly a perfect beauty for an artist’s canvas.
