Kuwait City, also referred to as ‘The City’ is the capital of Kuwait and one of the six governates of the state that include Al-Ahmadi, Al-Farwaniya, Hawally, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Al-Jahraa and Kuwait City. The dynamic metropolis, which is the only real city in the state has put behind its past of the disastrous Gulf War and developed into a flourishing city with modern infrastructure, important government and commercial buildings and beautifully manicured parks. A beautiful combination of commercial and residential buildings and attractive parks makes for the city’s pretty layout.
The city has a stunning coastline, which can be viewed in its full grandeur along with a picturesque view of the city from the Kuwait Towers. These landmark towers that give a spectacular view of the Arabian Gulf, house a revolving observation deck, some interesting restaurants and cafeterias and water reservoirs consisting of more than one million gallon of water. The two major streets, the Arabian Gulf Street and the Fahd Al Salim street run through the city interlinking smaller streets to give access to all parts of the city.
There are a number of tourist attractions in Kuwait City that one can enjoy exploring. The National Museum houses Islamic relics and artifacts and archeological finds while a planetarium is also located in its premises. The Bayt Al-Badr is one of the remaining 19th century buildings, which was build during the period 1838 to 1848. The building which was once the residence of the Al-Badr family is today an exhibition centre that displays handicraft exhibits. Those interested in seeing mosques, there are plenty in the city.
Entertainment City is a fabulous theme park where tourists visiting with family can spend an enjoyable day out. The park, which is based on the famous Disneyland, consists of a huge range of amusement rides that can be fun for both children as well as adults. Similarly the Aqua Park, adjacent to the Kuwait Towers provides a series of highly entertaining water slides and pools that help beat the heat of the scorching summer months. The Kuwait Zoological Park is yet another family entertainment attraction that visiting families can enjoy.
The Al-Shaab Sea Club offers a whole range of activities such as swimming, boating, volleyball, tennis, karate and a video parlor for those who love playing video games. Al-Aqeila Beach is a great place to spend a fun day at the beach. The Al-Shaab Garden is another amusement park in the city that families can visit. There are plenty more tourist attractions in Kuwait City and you can visit them as per your liking. The Arabian Gulf Street leads to numerous souks (market places) where you can buy everything you need.
