The capital of Bocas Del Toro Province and the district of the same name, Bocas del Toro or Bocas town is a lively tourist resort situated at the southern end of the Colon Islands in Bocas del Toro Archipelago in West Panama along the Caribbean Sea, sharing its border with Costa Rica. Bocas Town’s beautiful beaches and exotic rainforests make it one of the top tourist attractions in Panama. The island is sparsely populated, but it has tourists arriving here throughout the year to enjoy the splendors of this town. As Bocas is a small town, everything is almost at a walking distance.
Attractions include the Bastimentos Island National Marine Park, which is a 20 minutes boat ride from the island. Since the Bocas del Toro is popular for its white sandy beaches, there is no doubt that tourists will flock the area. Isla Colon has several beaches surrounding it, which includes the Bluff Beach. However, it must be noted that the sea here is prone to riptides, which could be unsafe for swimming, so consult a local before you step into the waters. The Bocas del Drago beach on the main island is great for snorkeling when the sea is calm. Camping out at the Playa Larga can get you a glimpse of the sea turtles.
The Bocas del Toro “Isla Colon” International Airport serves the town with flights arriving from Panama City and San Jose in Costa Rica. You can also get here by ferries and buses.
